Art Submissions

 

 

Below are various art guidelines. These guidelines are for both 3D renderings and 2D artwork. Contact DA with any questions you might have.


User Interface: Download v_tile_overlay.jpg and use it as skin reference. Alter any of the areas except the main map area (you can put edges around this area).


Here is an example of the kind of viewpoint and artwork we are looking for:

 Elf Walking

3D Guidelines

  • Number of frames:16

  • Number of Facings:8

  • Color:24-bit

  • Scaling: 1 pixel = 1 inch Therefore a 6 ft (72 inch human) would be 72 pixels from the tip of the head to their shoe.

  • Minimum size:80x80 (preferred size is 120x120).

  • Maximum size:240x240

  • No extra whitespace on icons.

  • Background color:Black RGB(0,0,0)

  • Other blacks:RGB (10,10,10) or higher

  • Files: A series of 24-bit bitmaps names _ _ .bmp

  • Frame numbers should be:0001, 0002, 0003, etc.

  • No shadows on character or monster renderings. Maps should have shadows to the NW or NE.

Here are four Poser 3 camera angles that we use for various in game figures.

 

Standard Poses

  • Attack Hand-to-Hand

  • Attack Close w/weapon (energy sword or energy staff)

  • Attack Range (blaster, laser rifle, etc.)

  • Walk

  • Standing

  • Dying ( 1 angle)

  • Specialty Pose1 (ex. Spell Cast)

  • Specialty Pose2

     

    Objects and Maps

    Sword 

    Objects should by 60x40 pixels and have black (0,0,0 - RGB) backgrounds.

     

    Map

    Maps should be 1200x1000 pixels.


     

    2D Guidelines

    Of course we can resize any type of 2D artwork that is sent in, but some standard sizes that we use are below.

    Mug Shot

    Character Faces, Objects Close Ups, Small Scenes 132x132 pixels

     

    KnightKnight Knight Character Portraits can be any size with black (0,0,0 - RGB), white (255, 255, 255), or scenic backgrounds.

     

    Skeletons 

    Artwork or various renderings can be 400x300, 600x500, or 800x600 and can be used as cut scenes and for other special effects.


     

    Our games focus on both fantasy and science fiction. So almost anything goes! Use your imagination and create some great stuff.

    Overall artwork needs will be in three stages.

    Stage 1 (Alpha-Demo) Artwork needs

    • 4-10 Player characters - includes 3D figure and 3 mug shots (basic, hurt)

    • 8-20 Monsters/NPCs - includes 3D figures and 1 mug shot (basic)

    • 10-30 Maps

    • 10-25 Objects
